Now this is an easy one for me. This song takes me back to when I left my country for the first time. It was back in 2005 when I left Ireland for a much smaller version in the form of Santa Ponsa (The Spanish capital of culture, where local customs such as the full-Irish breakfast and a cold pint of Guinness can be experienced and enjoyed) Yes I know, it’s not exactly the great epic adventure that I will be basing my debut travel novel on (not that I am in the process of writing a travel book) but still a holiday is a holiday. The song in question became a sort of soundtrack to the holiday, for reasons that are still unknown to me. I know the suspense must be killing you at this point, so I wont keep you too much longer. The song I am talking about is ‘Crazy World’ by Aslan. No not the magical talking lion from Narnia, although that would be an interesting song. But no Aslan are an Irish rock band fronted by the charismatic Christy Dignam. The band had their heyday in the 80’s and early 90’s but for some reason their biggest hit ‘Crazy World’ has been lingering ever since. Like I said, I’m not sure why this song was played so much, in Spain of all places. But as the song goes it’s a ‘Crazy World’
It’s nice to have small things remind us of happy times. Not so nice when the small things remind us of the sad times, but that’s a different point. 🙂

Music can be a double edged sword like that. It reminds us of all memories both happy and sad.
