Bandcamp Friday

Tomorrow isn’t just any old Friday, it’s Bandcamp Friday! Those of you already familiar with the platform will know what I’m talking about, but for everyone else, here’s a quick explainer.

Bandcamp is a music website/community/online record store that allows bands and artists (mostly independent) to sell music and merch. It’s a bit like Myspace, only instead of dying out with the dinosaurs it evolved into some bird-like creature…I may have taken this metaphor a bit too far.

Anyway, since the beginning of the pandemic back in March 2020, Bandcamp has been waiving all fees and commission on the first Friday of each month. And this is known as Bandcamp Friday.

Live music is the backbone of many independent musicians, and this has been hit hard over the past however long this has been going on for. Most of the bands I’ve recently featured here are on Bandcamp. I’ve even added handy buttons and links to their page. So, if you feel like supporting some great music, tomorrow is the day to do it (or the first Friday of March, April or May until gigs and live music is back to “normal”).
